Beyond words. . .

We just don't have any words to describe our feelings today. It has actually happened. We are parents. We left for the orphanage with Mr. Hiep and the 2 other families and their friends about 8:30 am. We got there about an hour and a half or so later. We started in a reception area where we met the director of the orphanage and were then led upstairs to a room where our 3 babies were waiting!! Sara was right inside the door in a walker and Sue scooped her up. Amazingly, neither Sue nor Sara were crying. Sara is as tiny as she looked in the pictures. The caretakers said she was a very good baby, very playful and smart. She understood Vietnamese when Bao spoke to her.

Here is Scott with his son, Henry. Henry had the most difficult time with the transition. This is Bao's son, Kevin. We stayed at the orphanage for 30-45 minutes playing with Sara and trying to get questions answered. We then rode back to our hotel with 8 people and 3 babies!!!

Now we are back at the hotel. Mommy and Sara are playing with toys. She has only cried a little bit when mommy tries to put her down. Daddy has to observe from the other bed.

Our G&R date may not be until next week, but until then we get to enjoy getting to know our new little girl.

Good Morning Mommy and Daddy,
We have "patiently" awaited your news and pictures. I think I was confused about the timing- waited and searched all of our yesterday. I have never seen those exact smiles on the two of you ever before- but, I recognize them- they are smiles of a parent. They bring with them feelins/emotions that cannot be described accurately-when you know, you know. Enjoy her and those special feelings. We love you and miss you. Happy Birthday Sara- you have the best birthday gift ever- your Mommmy and Daddy.

Lots of love,
Jackie, Shaina, and Robbie

What a way to wake up! I raced out of bed and literally ran downstairs to the nearest computer to find the sweetest pictures I have ever seen! What a dream come true. After all the months, and all the pictures of Sara, and especially the long wait, we now have pictures of Sara and her Mommy and Daddy together at last! I can't tell you how happy I am for you guys. My sweet friend Sue...It was so worth it. Enjoy this special time and know that the distance between VietNam and home is over flowing in happiness this morning! Enjoy your birthday's together...the happiest ever!
Love you and miss you,

It's 6:15 a.m. here in Los Angeles and I RAN to the computer this morning to see the photos I knew would be there. I've never seen anything so beautiful as the smiles on your faces. Welcome to the club! Being a parent is the best, most rewarding adventure you'll ever undertake. And what an amazing birthday gift for Mommy and Sara. Lots and lots of love - Michele and Amanda

Gary & Sue,
I did not even know about your adventure this week-end. Funny how 'bad gosip' travels like wildfire, but the good stuff doesn't get around as quickly. Julie Hinds was kind enough to send me the blog site. Your little Sara is absolutely beautiful! The photos look like she is bonding beautifully. I am so happy for you....I know you have waited for this special time for a long time! Yes, as someone else said, God is GOOD!!! Now you are a beautiful family. I hope everything goes smoothly for you and you have a safe trip home. I can't wait to see Sara. I hope you can bring her in when she is fully adjusted to her American life!

Just wanted to say congratulations! I have followed your journey for awhile because I can relate to your story in a small way. I had cancer myself and couldn't have more children. We were blessed to adopt a hispanic son 4 yrs ago. i thought the process would never end, but thankfully it ended happily! Congratulations again!! She is just beautiful!
